Update 11/16/20: Fingerprint Services are suspended due to COVID-19 until further notice.

There are many reasons persons need to have their fingerprints taken. The University of Utah Police Department provides fingerprint services to those needing fingerprints, except those needing electronic submissions.


In order to better protect you and University Police Department staff during the coronavirus pandemic, the following changes apply to fingerprinting services:

  • Appointments are required
    • 15-minute appointments are available on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p. m. 
    • To schedule, call 801-585-2677
  • Safety precautions:
    • Individuals must wear a mask during the appointment
    • Guest temperatures will be checked at the door before being permitted to enter the building
    • Physical distance of at least six feet will be maintained throughout the appointment
    • Appointments will be scheduled to allow time for cleaning and sanitation between visitors

Fee & Payment

The first card is $10; each additional card is $7 per card.

We can accept Visa or Master Card, check, cash or campus orders.

What to Bring

Valid government issued photoID (Driver license, passport, military ID, etc.)

We use the FBI generic 10-fingerprint card. Some agencies require fingerprints to be submitted on specific cards. If your department or agency requires a special form you must bring this form with you.

Any special instructions or verification documentation that may be required by the entity.
