Can I get my fingerprints done? When?

Yes! Our department rolls fingerprints every Thursday from 8am to 4pm, walk-in only. They cost $10.00 per card. Don't forget to bring your ID!

How can I get information about a police incident I was involved in?

Our records department maintains and distributes information on any case the department creates. They are open Mon-Fri 8am to 4pm. You can call dispatch at 801-585-2677 and ask for the records department or request a copy.

Some of my property was booked into evidence by your department. How do I get it back?

Property can only be accessed and released by Sergeant Fermanian or Sergeant Smith. Call during business hours (8:00am to 4:00pm)  to schedule a pick-up appointment.

How long will it take for help to get here?

With both security and police, there is no guarantee on arrival times. Our Department takes 911 calls as well as administrative calls. Because of the nature of emergency response, the timing of each call can vary. We do our best to be prompt, but cannot always arrive within a given time frame.

I have a question about parking regulations, or a parking ticket I received, who do I talk to?

Parking services is a separate entity from the Public Safety Department. You will need to call Commuter Services at 801-581-6415.

Can I schedule an escort ahead of time?

Because our security assists with police calls, they are not able to guarantee exact times for safety escorts. You will need to callat the time you need assistance to make a request. We attempt to arrive for escorts within seven minutes of receiving the call for service.

Can I have my car jumped if it is dead? What if I lock my keys inside?

Security can help with these problems if you are parked on campus and can verify your identity. Call the dispatch line at 801-585-2677 for help.

I need to get into a building but it is locked, can security let me in?

If you are a student or faculty member, security can help you only if there is legitimate need. (lost or forgotten items can only be retrieved during normal operating hours.

Security WILL NOT let in contractors. They must go through the building managers they are working with.

If you need a building open for an event or performance, you must schedule it ahead of time with the scheduling department at 801-581-7854.

I am locked out of my house, can security let me in?

If you live in University Student Apartments in the East village, West village, or the Medical Towers, security can let you in for a fee (imposed by housing) that will usually appear on your rent statement.

If you are a student who lives in the Sage Point, Chapel Glen, Cedar Court, Benchmark Plaza, Shoreline Ridge, or Gateway Heights you will need to contact the Heritage Center at 801-587-2000.
